Collie Power Station shut down - Activists lock-on

From the newswire: NOV 5, 2008: At around 5AM this morning three activists locked on to machinery at the Collie coal-fired power station in WA's south-west, forcing an emergency shut-down of the plant. Police arrived around 7.30. See the PHOTOS... A spokesperson for the group says they are protesting about the "continued unsustainable use of coal as an energy source..." Meanwhile a peaceful demonstration of "coal washing" took place outside the plant. The coal-fired power station is situated 10km north of Collie. Coal for the power station is transported on conveyor from the nearby Collie coal mines. Collie Power Station uses about 1 million tonnes of coal a year.
